 Wet Asphalt (1958)
IMDB rating: 7.30
Plot: When a made-up story crafted to meet a rapidly approaching deadline spirals out of control, a young reporter takes it upon himself to warn the public and his journalistic peers of the dangers of sensationalism in this long-lost film noir directed by Frank Wisbar and starring Horst Buchholz. Aspiring journalist Greg Bachmann (Buchholz) has just been released from prison and is looking for some honest work. Soon hired as assistant to influential yellow journalist Cesar Boyd (Martin Held), Bachmann is shocked to discover that his new employer has concocted the story of a blind Nazi soldier discovered in a bunker years after the end of World War II in order to meet a looming deadline. When other reporters latch on to the story and run a phony picture of the long-lost soldier, a peaceful protest aimed at pressuring authorities to release the man quickly elevate into a full-scale riot. Now, with all of Europe in chaos, Bachmann must race to expose the fraudulent scoop and spread the word about the dangers of tabloid reporting.

Wet Seal / Blue Asphalt Jeans dye colors? For all wet seal jean wearers?
I recently bought a Fashionista super skinny black pair of Blue Asphalt jeans from wet seal. I put it in the washing machine and it turned my other clothes purple!!!! I also bought a Fashionista Skinny dark sandblasted jeans, but I haven’t put that in the washing machine yet. I was wondering if anyone would know will the color come off of that pair of jeans too?
Also, for wet seal jean wearers, do all the their 24.50 jeans color come off too? I just wanted to save some money by buying their jeans, but if the color comes off and get my other shirts dyed, then it’s not worth it.
Also, is there any way to get the purple dye off of my white shirts???
Thank you!
When you buy new clothes, you should wash each thing by itself without anything else because they dye in them usually comes out the first time you wash them.
I have a couple pair of Wet Seal jeans and the color didn’t come off mine.
If the clothes that turned purple were originally white, you could put some bleach on them to get the purple out.

Is America not an empire? What's your counter argument?
Empire: 1. (Government, Politics & Diplomacy) an aggregate of peoples and territories, often of great extent, under the rule of a single person, oligarchy, or sovereign state http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Empire
America has colonized, eg, Liberia is a good example. Guam, American Samoa, etc… but America’s empire is different in that it doesn’t focus on colonizing other nations with people, it focuses on colonizing them with financial institutions.
Financial institutions are not people, so most don’t recognize the scale by which America has invaded the world. America invades using the WTO (completely run by the US) to open new markets to "free trade". What this means really is, they often send in the military or sanction a country until it’s destroyed and then either appoint a leader willing to play ball or wait for the current one to say uncle (example: The current leader of Iraq Jalal Talibani is an American passport holder). Then they flood the country with American goods and American companies go in and take over the financial institutions and end up running the country. Local business can’t compete and is destroyed. Also, because "free trade" would allow the poorer country to flood America with cheap fruits and nut etc… the US simply ignores it’s own rules. The US has sanctions on over 50 such countries to block all imports of these types of goods (look up Grenada for a good example).
An empire must expand. All empires follow the same path, they expand until they can expand no more and then they collapse. America’s expansion cannot be seen on a geographical map, but it can be seen on a map of world industry. It’s able to hide what it’s doing to an extent, but none-the-less, it’s doing what all empires do.
The real beauty of this type of empire is that you can control nations and take their money as a classical empire would, but you don’t have to deal with their domestic problems. If they don’t have schools, not your problem, if they rebel and the country falls into civil war (but your guy is still in power) not your problem.
Do you have a counter argument that proves America is not an empire?
Germany
Italy
Iraq
Japan
If we are an empire
Where is my German servant, my Italian Chef, My Iraqi gardener, and my Japanese accountant?
Where is my 39 cent oil straight from the fields of Iraq
If we truly were an empire we would almost have those 57 states that Obama likes to discuss
Bethy | Feb 09, 2010
Contrary to left wing mythology, America doesn’t conquer anywhere, in fact we do just the opposite, liberate other countries. Where you go wrong is not in your definition of an empire, but in what you accuse the United States of doing. When is the last time we added another state to the union? If you want to accuse the United States of Nation Building, then that is a different debatable point. But even if we do build Nations, this certainly doesn’t make us an Imperial Empire.
Empire: 1. (Government, Politics & Diplomacy) an aggregate of peoples and territories often of great extent, under the rule of a single person (we have a president and a congress!), oligarchy, or sovereign state
This definition does not describe the recent actions of America, at all. Overthrowing an evil dictator of a nation is very different than conquering it. Did Iraq become a state? I rest my case.
Right Wing Nerd | Feb 09, 2010
There’s a great difficulty disproving America’s subtle, behind the scenes move toward creating it’s own empire. It’s not only the various land masses she has gradually occupied it’s the mighty dollar which is used as the official currency in many countries around the world as their official currency. Also, it the backdoor acquisition of successful established overseas businesses and the transfer of their production to the USA. (I await with interest and not a little trepidation, the Kraft/Cadbury saga now that Kraft have completed the snatch.) I fear we shall all wake up one morning and hear the Star Spangled Banner being played on the TV as the prelude to the Early Morning News! Another thing: "God save our Pres-i-dent, Long live our Pres-i-dent…………et al!!!!!! does NOT sound right at all!

 Captivity (2007)
IMDB rating: 5.80
Plot: Top cover girl and fashion model, Jennifer Tree (ELISHA CUTHBERT) has it all – beauty, fame, money and power. Her face appears on covers of hundreds of magazines. At the top of her game, Jennifer is America’s sweetheart. She is loved and adored and sought after. Everyone wants her. But someone out there has been watching and waiting. Someone wants her in the worst way. Out alone at a charity event in Soho, Jennifer is drugged and taken. Held captive in a cell, Jennifer is subjected to a series of terrifying, life-threatening tortures that could only be conceived by a twisted, sadistic mind. Inspired by the fact that over 850,000 people are reported missing every year in the United States, many of whom are never seen again, CAPTIVITY, follows the story of one woman who is abducted and tortured, held against her will in a place where days turn into weeks. Her will to escape and survive is challenged every moment by a maniac’s desire to demoralize innocent victims and play out his sick game that has been played many times before Jennifer was taken. A combination of SAW and HOSTEL meets SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, CAPTIVITY is a psychological thriller/horror film that shows us the true terror of the crimes of abduction and confinement that are committed every day by serial killers and psychopaths at large. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Roland Joffe (THE KILLING FIELDS, THE MISSION), CAPTIVITY delves deeply into the minds of both captor and victim with a fresh and terrifying view of this epidemic horror. Being released this summer in theatres nation-wide, CAPTIVITY has been called one of the most controversial films of the year. It’s a disturbing and raw, yet classy and thought provoking film which will leave you terrified, and looking over your shoulder as you leave the theatre wondering if you could be next.

Really weird dream help?
I was in the kitchen helping my mom make lunch or dinner or whatever, then I heard people screaming and yelling outside, so I checked the front door and I saw a big black male outside and he had a gun, he said a few words, but I don’t remember what he said. Then I tried to close the door but he put his foot in the way. Then he said "do you know what this is ?" he pulled for something in his pocket but at the same moment, i slammed the door on him. Now here comes the weird part. I called 911 and it turns out there was an undercover police officer about 50 ft in front of my house. I ran to her and said someone tried to kill us. And for some reason… I said a lady name Tanya tried to shoot us. Then the police officer yelled out the name "Taneea!!" Then a lady named Tanya came to us and said " Who you calling Taneea? It’s Tanya to you" Then the dream stops. Then another dream came in. It was really weird, my and Finlay from WWE were tag team partners against Randy Orton and Ted DiBiase. The arena was like an ostrich pit with 8 corners. Randy and Ted couldn’t decide which corner to stand in so I hammered Ted on the back of the head with my two hands and knocked him out. Then, everyone in the crowd was calling me greedy and selfish. So then Randy Orton came in and he had a disgusted look in his face. I started to attack him, but he didn’t do anything. He just kept letting me attack him. Then out of no where, I have this incredible burst of hatred and rage. I threw him out of the pit and started rubbing his entire body against a tree. I kept doing it and his arms fell off. But the socket of his arm looked like the inside of a tree…Then they had to do surgery on him right there at the tree. And they gave him wooden arms and a wooden spear. They said i had to fight him like that, but after everyone rested. So I went to this house real fast to rest and my best friend was sitting right next to me, at that moment I felt like my best friend was my tag team partner, not Finlay. Then a black female with wooden arms and a wooden spear bursted through the door. She looked very familiar and I realized that it was "Tanya" from earlier. At that moment, it also felt like Tanya was suppose to be the one I was fighting instead of Randy Orton. Tanya tried to spear my best friend then he ran away. She chased after him, but I couldn’t help because for some reason, I was stuck the the bench I was sitting on. Then Tanya came into the house and said some words I can’t remember. And my best friend came through the door silently and tried to sneak past Tanya and hide. Then the dream stopped. Another one came in, but I was still in the same house and there were two guys. They were like smart people and made models of stuff. I asked one of them if I could play with their model plane and they said yes. I touched the plane and it started flying buy itself buy not going forward, just hovering and it said alot of words, but I can’t remember. I think it was telling facts about the plane. Then the dream stopped.
If you read the whole thing, I thank you very much. Sorry if it was too long, anyways can anybody tell me what was with that dream? Thanks
i didnt read it cause i hate readin ..
but its all just a dream

Why doesn't anyone recommend EQ?
I’ve only been playing World of Warcraft for 3 years now, and I’m ready for something else. Ive never leveled to 80, although I’m really close, and I’ve just become tired of everything. I want new environments, more serious graphics. EQ always seems like a good choice what with wide variety of cool races and classes, but no one ever says anything nice about it. Give me some high points of the EQ series, hell give me other MMORPGs that fit my wants for serious graphics, and new atmosphere. Fantasy or Si-fi, Just something new.
Uhhh.. Really, there aren’t any perfect MMOs out there.
WoW is pretty successful, but has its flaws, yes.
I enjoy MMOs, too, but ended up getting tired of paying for a game that I am only partially satisfied with.

I played EQ for about 7 years and loved it, i just got sick of paying for it. Now I play Perfect World International. It’s free and the graphics are good and great customization. Of course there is no perfect MMO but it’s a good fun game to play… and FREE.

What was your favorite story line on Young and the Restless?
I like the romance between Katherine and Murphy.
I have liked seeing Jack finally going to get his, and Adam getting put in the pokey. Sharon leaving Jack. Mrs C and Murphy together. Gloria finally going to jail. I really liked the one episode that they did with just Micheal showing him how the world would have been without him in it. Micheal is an awesome actor.

No. Most people who live in the city will answer differently from people who live in rural areas. When you get away from manmade lights on a moonless night there is no way you can not be in absolute awe.

No. People take creation for granted.

I’m sure you aren’t. Personally I’m more in awe of my local bakery’s donut selection.

Well, not in a jaw dropping way, but I do feel a sense of awe and wonder when thinking about the utterly vast and beautiful universe in which we live.

No. It IS awesome, and it proves there is a God (Romans 1:20).

Yoshi ate many stars and regurgitated them out to create the big dipper! Yoshi is proud of his masterpiece!

No – I do this every night. There is barely any light polution where I live so I can see the Milky Way and just think about how insignificant we all are.

Nope!
It’s like worship to me, to be out there looking up, and seeing the intricacies of the heavens. The more I know, the more awed I am.

Nope, I’m with ya – I fell asleep in my lawn chair during the last meteor shower. Have a nice reflecting telescope I use often. Wanted to be an astronaut as a kid. Truly amazing stuff…incomprehensible.

You should say in your heart silently-
"God is Great!"

No you’re not alone. The night sky is one of the many wonderful sights for the human eye to behold.

There’s too much light pollution where I live now. But years ago, when I lived in a really remote area without artificial lights around, I would spend hours lying on my back outside looking at the stars. I really miss that!
Amalthea | Feb 09, 2010
Not at all. As a dedicated astronomer, I’m *always* in awe of them.
That doesn’t mean I have to make up a magic man in the sky to explain them, though — we have well-established natural explanations for how they got there, what they are, how far away they are, while physical laws act on them, etc. No "god" is implied, evidenced, or required.
Peace.

Serious/Heavy/Deep anime? Similar to Wolf's Rain and Ghost in the Shell?
I’ve had a bit of down time, and I’m looking for a new anime to watch. I’m really looking for something sci-fi -ish that’s serious/heavy/deep. I really don’t want any kind of comedy, or exagerations and such: Like the giant teardrop things, or ‘chibi’ characters.
I also would like something that has a bit of a different art style to it. Wolf’s Rain, Ghost in the Shell, and .Hack// are PERFECT examples. If someone could suggest something almost exactly those, it would be much appreciated.
I really don’t want anything that is entirely character-relation related. There has to be something at the end that is being worked for.
Also, the characters need to be grown, or at least not in school. Something, with more mature tastes.
Realistic is another word. I don’t want any over the top ‘action’ or powers or anything of the such. If someone gets shot, they shouldn’t explode. If someone gets punched, they shouldn’t be flying through any walls.
I’m not looking for anything to be hyper realistic. What GITS did is fine, I just don’t want anything ungodly exaggerated. Also, I am a fan of House.
Try Bakemonogatari. I think I spelled that right.

Appleseed and Appleseed ex Machina.
A post apocalyptic civilization thriller.
Also Vexille, a future morality story.
EDIT
And Miyazaki’s Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind or Princess Mononoke.
All of these are feature length, not series.

Ayashi No Ceres
Teenager Aya Mikage and her twin brother Aki are called to their grandfather’s home for a special celebration for their sixteenth birthday. Instead they find themselves the victims of an ancient family ritual. Aya is found to be the reincarnation of a celestial maiden and upon reaching the age of sixteen her body is able to bring forth a powerful, celestial maiden called Ceres. When she transforms into Ceres, Aya obtains supernatural powers and often forgets what she has done during the transformation, resulting in a double personality. According to the legend, if left to live, the reincarnation of Ceres will bring ruin upon the Mikage family. Aya quickly finds herself assigned a death penalty by her own family. However, she is saved by Suzumi Aogiri, another celestial maiden descendant. They take Aya into their home after she is forced to run from the Mikage. Events escalate as Aya struggles to control Ceres and her brother is taken over the soul of "Mikagi", the ancestor of the Mikage family who stole Ceres’ celestial robe preventing her return to heaven. Aya must also wrestle with affection for Toya, a Mikage employee with no memory of his own past. He is assigned to protect Aki and observe Aya by the leader of the C-project (celestial project). As he carries out his mission, he begins to develop feelings for Aya. As Aya’s allies increase, which include two C-Genomers (celestial descendants) like herself and the Aogiri family, and Toya, she manages to make an agreement with Ceres. Aya promises to retrieve Ceres’s "celestial robe" in exchange for the celestial maiden’s mercy toward her brother and Toya.
